Mel Gibson was recorded by ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva as saying that she dressed too sexy and would get “raped by a pack of ni**ers.” Gibson also repeatedly called her a “whore” and a “c**t” and made threats to burn her house down.

On The View a couple weeks ago, a very earnest Whoopi claimed that Mel Gibson is not a racist, despite the recording.

“I know Mel, and I know he’s not a racist,” Whoopi said. “I have had a long friendship with Mel. You can say he’s being a bonehead, but I can’t sit and say that he’s a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I don’t like what he’s done, make no mistake.”

Just two weeks after standing up for Gibson, Whoopi showed up drugged on The View. Between laughing fits, Whoopi confessed that she just got back from a plane ride from Vienna and she has to take medication to travel. (You can see a clip of the show here.)

Life Ball is “Europe’s largest and most spectacular annual charity event dedicated to raising money in the worldwide fight against HIV and AIDS.”  Last year the event raised nearly 1.5 million Euros.
